"I
will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the
people praise thee forever and ever." Psalm 45:17
This psalm is a
Messianic one, referring to Jesus Christ. This particular verse, the last in
the psalm, is a promise from God the Father to God the Son. The promise
guarantees that Christ will be remembered and praised in every generation, that
praise and glory will always be given Him.
What an
encouraging thought for a dark spiritual hour! In a day where the name of
Christ is largely mocked and despised, when darkness seems to gain more and
more momentum, we can be assured that there will always be a contingent of
people holding up high the name of Jesus Christ. God has promised it! He has
committed Himself to assure it will happen. God's kingdom will triumph; it will
endure; it will (already has) have the final victory.
Every time one is brought to Christ in faith, this is just another part of the fulfillment of this promise. Every time a church of Jesus Christ meets together in true worship, it is another part of the fulfillment of this promise. Every day that you and I seek to faithfully serve Him, it is yet another part of the fulfillment of this promise. Rejoice in this Divine promise today!
